In Burkina Faso, Afrique Contre le Tabac is engaged in an awareness raising campaign on the link between Covid-19 and nicotine. It is engaged in sensitisation on the dangers of COVID-19, especially to smokers, who are likely to develop severe complications from COVID-19. The campaign is also sensitizing authorities with the objective of preventing tobacco industry interference initiatives aimed at boosting the tobacco business at the detriment of public health. Amongst other things, ACONTA is:

• Producing sensitization banners and posters on the link between Covid-19 and smoking.
• Manufacturing and distributing face masks
• Organising a press conference to sensitize the population on the link between smoking and COVID-19, and authorities on tobacco industry interference during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Participating in radio programmes where it is discussing the link between Covid-19 and smoking
• Setting up a team to monitor the tobacco industry.
